Spirits or distilled alcohol with a specific gravity under 1.000 can be tested for alcohol content using a Proof and Tralles hydrometer. Unlike regular beer and wine hydrometers, it directly measures alcohol concentration. This hydrometer features two scales: Proof (the US International Revenue Scale for proof of spirits) and Tralles (the actual percentage of alcohol).
Instructions: Pour the liquid sample into a test tube. Insert the hydrometer, ensuring it is fully suspended without air bubbles or obstructions. Read the scale at the liquid's surface for the result.
